Defenders of Animals Homeless Animals Day


Join Rhode Island Pet Network at the Defenders of Homeless Animals Annual Homeless Day Candlelight Vigil and Award Ceremony on Saturday, August 19th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The event is free and open to the public as an opportunity for animal advocates from around Rhode Island to band together to jump-start new programs and rekindle previous ones to raise awareness about pet overpopulation. The ceremony will take place outside at the Governor Sprague Mansion, 1351 Cranston Street, Cranston.

Cristina Erne , Sunrise Meteorologist at WJAR 10, will MC and Defenders of Animals Humane Heroes awards will be presented to Smithfield Councilman John J. Tassoni and to our own Executive Director, Jordan Bouclin.

The event will include raffles for items like a round trip for two on the Block Island Ferry, restaurant gift certificates, and veterinary and microchip services. Luminary Bags with flameless LED Tea Light Candles, in memory of a pet, can be purchased, for display at the event and then taken home, in advance by credit/debit card online at defendersofanimals.org. The donation is $5 for each luminary and will feature your name and the name of the pet in memorium.
